Final images – computer geek photographs
These final set of images where my most comical and light hearted of all my images. Having said that I still think they convey quite an important message about the power spectacle can have over us and the strength of emotions it can make us feel. I also decided at the shoot that I wanted to make these images a lot simpler than my pervious images opting to only use 3 out of the 5 models I have for the shoot. I also wanted to make them symmetrical and crisp in there appearance choosing to use three of exactly the came make monitors to help achieve this arty and constructed look.
This first image show the absorbing power of spectacle presented to us by what we can assess on computer. How we just seem to sit transfixed at a computer screen for most of our lives. What I like about this image is I wanted the viewer to look at the image and firstly just see bored looking people staring at computer screens but then if you look closer you can see that there expressions are all slightly different and I wanted the viewer to then wonder just what exactly each person might be looking at. I love the simplicity and symmetry of this image and the fact that it is still bold and strong as an image.
This second image shows our frustration with computer, and explore how we just can’t seem to live with them or without them. I love the emotions portrayed on the models faces and anger and dismay and think that is a very good visual representation of the feeling we al get. I also like that I’ve managed to keep an element of symmetry going with the positioning of the arms and hands of the models on the each end of the image.
This is my final image and with this photograph I threw the idea of symmetry out the window and really wanted to show the extent of just how angry and annoyed people can get if the are separated from the spectacle by a technical error, that we have become addicted to. I know from personal experience that I do feel like smashing things up if they don’t work and I think this I image shows we just how extreme are emotions can be affected by our obsession with spectacle.
Conclusion – probably the simplest of all my images for this project but arguably the most sticking. This shows me that my obsession with symmetry can pay off and also shows me the importance of getting the right props as without the right looking computers and also the same monitors this look I have created would have all been lost.
